Your whole site's health on one page

Byte Checkup checks your Total CMS site and tells you what needs attention, and where to fix it. It's for site owners and the people who look after sites for them. Use it after a launch, before handing a site to a client, or as a quick monthly check-up.

What it adds

Byte Checkup adds one page to your admin sidebar with four cards: green for fine, amber for worth a look, red for fix this. Every problem links straight to the page or item that needs it.

- Pages: pages pointing at missing templates, routes used twice, redirects with nowhere to go, a missing 404 page, and drafts nobody has touched in months.

- SEO: missing meta descriptions, titles and descriptions too long for Google, pages with no share image, and images with no alt text.

- Extensions: which extensions are on or off, any that are failing or logging errors, and any that need a newer Total CMS or PHP.

- System: Total CMS and PHP versions (with PHP's support end date), debug and Dev Mode, HTTPS, free disk space, recent log errors and the job queue.

It only reads your site and never changes your content or settings. Nothing is added to your public site.

Byte Checkup Pro adds scheduled checks with email alerts. The same check runs hourly, every 6 hours, daily or weekly, and emails you when something new goes wrong (and again when it's fixed), or on every check as a regular report. A test button sends one straight away.

Setting it up

Upload the zip in Settings → Extensions, enable it, and open Byte Checkup in the sidebar. In its settings you can turn cards off, choose which collections the SEO checks look at, and set your own thresholds. For Pro alerts, add your licence key and an alert email address, and click Create it now on the page to add the alert email template. Then switch on the extension's Automations permission.

Good to know

- Scheduled checks need Total CMS's automations cron job (php bin/tcms automations:process). Sending email needs the Standard edition or higher, with working mail settings.
